Why am I running for Judge?
I care deeply about justice. The position of Superior Court Judge is too important to be entrusted to a candidate who does not have a deep understanding of the types of cases which routinely come before the Court. I have handled thousands of misdemeanor cases, and hundreds of felony criminal cases and family law cases, both of which are the majority of cases heard before the Court. I have had many felony and misdemeanor criminal jury trials. As an attorney in Superior Court, I have handled divorces (representing both fathers and mothers); criminal cases (representing criminal defendants and victims of crime); evictions (representing both landlords and tenants); protection order cases; and I have handled a variety of civil (i.e., non-criminal) cases including breach of contract, personal injury, boundary disputes, involuntary commitments, dependencies, guardianships, farm partnership dissolutions, and appellate cases. I have sat as a judicial officer in one form or another for 14+ years.
The cases that come before the court are high stakes; they invariably concern the most important issue that a party is currently facing in his or her life. It would not be fair to the litigants to have their case heard by a Judge who lacked the necessary experience. I possess that experience.
